Proline accumulation in three closely related Salsola L. taxa

چکیده

Halophytes, gypsicoles and serpentinicoles are adapted to specialized edaphic conditions at arid semi-arid regions. These areas possess physical chemical stress factors for all plants. For these plants, one of the most important parameter that provides tolerance is proline accumulation. Proline a water-soluble amino acid generally accumulated under behave like an indicator adaptation plants against extreme conditions. In this study, amounts accumulation in three different taxa, Salsola boissieri subsp. serpentinicola, turcica, were determined. taxa phylogenetically close each other but soil types. The highest measured leaves S. turcica with value 2.510 ± 0.020 µmol g-1 FW lowest serpentinicola 0.996 0.024 FW. As result accumulations, it can be concluded high amount halophytic response low means species may have adaptations caused by serpentinicolous soils. Both studied accumulate findings show marker assessment species.

Detecting Horizontal Gene Transfer between Closely Related Taxa

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT), the transfer of genetic material between organisms, is crucial for genetic innovation and the evolution of genome architecture. Existing HGT detection algorithms rely on a strong phylogenetic signal distinguishing the transferred sequence from ancestral (vertically derived) genes in its recipient genome. Detecting HGT between closely related species or strains is...

Evolutionary Physiology of Closely Related Taxa: Analyses of Enzyme Expression

0510 Evolutionary Physiology SICB98 2 Among Closely Related Species I have always wondered why comparative biologists choose their study organisms from a single population. Is it to avoid biological variation and thus make it easier to statistically distinguish between species? This variation, the variation within a species, is the stuff of evolution. ABSTRACT Comparative biochemistry and physi...

Isolation and characterization of 15 microsatellite loci from mango (Mangifera indica L.) and cross-species amplification in closely related taxa

We report here on the development and characterization of 15 microsatellite loci isolated from Mangifera indica L. These markers were evaluated using 59 Florida cultivars and four related species from the USDA germplasm collection for mango. Two loci were monomorphic and 13 polymorphic, with two to seven alleles per locus. Four loci departed significantly from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium and hav...

Gene dosage effect of L-proline biosynthetic enzymes on L-proline accumulation and freeze tolerance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

We have previously reported that L-proline has cryoprotective activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A freeze-tolerant mutant with L-proline accumulation was recently shown to carry an allele of the PRO1 gene encoding gamma-glutamyl kinase, which resulted in a single amino acid substitution (Asp154Asn). Interestingly, this mutation enhanced the activities of gamma-glutamyl kinase and gamma-gluta...
